Check out the cult of Sai Baba - this guy pretends to be a reincarnation of God on earth - he's made a huge following Internationally and he's also been readily known to abuse/molest children. The guy has so much power that he's basically become untouchable beyond all presidential or judical or even military jurisdictions.

The guy is nothing more then a really quirky magician - but he's got a huge following, one that even has managed to keep his Wikipedia page censored from criticism.

This list would be better if: A.) the "religions and cults" were all religions and cults, and didn't include joke religions and art projects, and B.) they actually were the "most bizarre" as claimed. My guess is that these were the only 8 weird "religions" that you could think of off of the top of your head, so they were the ones that you wrote about.
